Colour

The light of the sun is white, but if it passes through a prism then it will divide into 12 different shades and as in the colours of the rainbow. There is no black colour, neither brown because to create the colour brown, black is needed.

The foundation of the walls of new Jerusalem is formed from 12 different precious stones in layers as we read in Rev. 21:19-20. These precious stones are similar colours as the colours in the rainbow, and also in the same order. The names of the 12 apostles are written on these stones in the foundation. Rev. 21:14. The name of Judas is not written on these precious stones because in his character there were black colours which do not fit into the walls of New Jerusalem.

These 12 different shades of colours fit together in the white sunlight, in same way these 12 different characteristics fit together in the white colour of the character of Jesus. They all have white garments, but yet they have different characteristics.

We can imagine that the eager Peter reflected the red colour and the more calm apostles reflect blue and green colours. Someone else took the place of Judas and his name appears in the foundation of the wall. The city also has 12 gates. We do not know if they also have different shades of colour but the names of the 12 tribes of Israel are written upon them. But one name is missing and it is Dan. Rev. 7:5-8. Why is this? We read in Gen. 49:1 that, “Dan shall be a serpent by the way.” It was a serpent that tempted Eve to commit sin and we read in Rev. 20:2 that Satan, the Devil, is the old serpent, or the ruler of darkness, and because in the darkness there is no light, therefore it does not fit into the gates of New Jerusalem.

In place of Dan, Manassah the oldest son of Joseph is taken. If you and I will enter into the New Jerusalem, it will depend on our characters.

We can have different shades of colours but no black. We must overcome all sin, and be clothed with white garments. God is light and His children must also have white characters that are sinless. The white robes are the wedding garments, which everyone must have who want to be at the wedding of the Lamb. Now is the time when we must prepare ourselves, because tomorrow it may be too late.

May the Lord help us in this.
AMEN
