My Testimony

I was brought up in a staunch Roman Catholic family, and, at the appropriate time, I entered the seminary to train as a priest. After some years, I had become quite disturbed, as I had noticed too many attitudes by some priests and students that seemed to be in variance to the scriptures. It was then that I started to look around for a Christ centered church, one based on 1 John 3:11,”Love one another…” How could Jesus be “the same yesterday, today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8), if by the some whimsical wish or pontifical proclamation, some, if not all things could be changed, and, in the name of Jesus. The decision was made. I left the seminary.

After much searching, I settled on the Pentecostal Church. As time progressed, I found myself pasturing a small church outreach of six members. I often had to remind myself that “when two or three are gathered in my name, I am there in the midst of them”(Mat. 18:20). There was a dramatic increase in church membership to just under 100 in number. A second church was started to cater for those who had been rejected and hurt by “church.” Little did I know that there was such a desperate need for such a church. Later, two rehabilitation Houses for troubled youth were started. In a three year period, in excess of 70 of these young people were introduced to our Lord and Saviour and baptized accordingly. What went wrong, I don’t really know? I can however clearly recall the judge saying, “ten years, stand down”.

I went through a period of about two years whereby I was bitter as a result of what had happened. And then, I was introduced to members of the Seventh Day Adventist Reform Movement. As time went by, and truth-by-truth was unveiled, I came to realize just how much I had previously not understood. To the glory of God, in April of this year, I was baptized and given the right hand of fellowship. What a joyous occasion that was. I find life as a “Reformer” to be exciting, refreshing and humbling as I witness a new approach to spreading the truth of God’s word.

Praise God that He has set me free, and, to this end, I claim the following promise daily, “If you abide in My word you are my disciples indeed, and you shall know the truth, and, the truth shall make you free. Therefore, if the Son shall make you free, you shal! be free indeed” (John 8:32,36). Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. It is I who have changed and to the qlory of His name. . . .
